Stress is a living reality in our modern world and no one is really exempted from its effects. The demands on our time at work, school and home can be daunting and pressurizing. This talk unfolds practical strategies in stress and time management for personal mastery.

Stress is a part of our everyday life.

  1. Changes of all kinds can lead to stress
  2. Stress can help or hinder us; depending on how we manage it. (Healthy vs. unhealthy stress)
  3. However, unhealthy stress left unchecked leads to overload; overload leads to breakdown.
  4. To overcome overload, you must begin with a desire.

Desire – Decision - Discipline

Having a desire helps you make a decision for change. However, decision alone is insufficient. You need Discipline to help you achieve your goals. Success is not something you wait for. Success is about who you are and what you do daily.

It is who you are & what you do TODAY that determines your tomorrow. Therefore, the key to managing stress is good time management; practiced on a daily basis. In this 3 part series blog, I will be highlighting 3 basic principles for effective time and stress management.

Key No. 1: Everyone has time!

You are given an envelope of cash gift of $86,400 dollars. You can use it fully by the end of the day – without any carryovers. Any balance unused will be cancelled. How would you spend it?

Similarly, all of us are given the same amount of time daily (86,400 seconds). WE ARE TO USE THEM WISELY. A lot of people commonly made the mistake by saying that “I don’t have the time.” This is a fatal negative mindset that prevents people from effective time management.

The truth is “we all have time” and “we make time for what we value most”. Stop making the excuses today. Start taking charge of your life by MAKING time for what is important and of value to you.

Personal Application:

  1. Take 10 minutes to map out your average day
  2. Break your day down into 30 minutes slots to analyze how you spend your time
  3. Find out for yourself where your time has gone to
